WakeStudents

Wake Students is the middle and high school ministry of Quay Church. We exist to make Jesus known and to help lead students into an encounter with Him in a safe and welcoming environment. We strive to build them up in both their zeal for the Lord and in their understanding of His word.

In scripture we see the word “wake” used in connection with resurrection (Ephesians 5:14) and how Jesus brings us from death to life. “Wake” in the nautical definition is defined as “the result or consequence of something having moved through”. We desire for our student ministry to make an impact on our community by how we live, and that we would leave a wake behind us that points others to faith in Jesus.

Quay Students: Launching in August

This past school year, we launched separate middle and high school gatherings, and have seen incredible growth in both. Students have connected on deeper levels and grown spiritually in environments designed specifically for their stage of life.

We are excited to announce that beginning in August, we will continue hosting two separate gatherings for middle and high school, however both will take place on Wednesday nights. With this change, we will be able to have all students gathering under one roof while still maintaining separate and intentional environments for middle and high school students.

Also beginning in the fall, Wake Students will officially become Quay Students. This change will help create greater clarity and consistency for new families looking to get connected, and it better reflects the direction and vision of our ministry moving forward.

While our name and schedule are changing, the heart of this student ministry remains exactly the same. Our mission continues to be creating environments where students can encounter Jesus, build meaningful community, and grow in their faith alongside trusted leaders and friends.

frequently asked questions

what are wake crews?

Crews is our name for our small groups here at Quay Church. Wake has a crew for each grade and gender. Each crew has at least two crew leaders who have applied to lead their group for the entire school year, and have been interviewed, background checked, and selected by our leadership team.

Crews meet weekly during our gathering in different locations on campus to discuss the message and pray together. We encourage our crew leaders to develop meaningful relationships as they step into a discipleship role with their group of students and guide them in their relationships with Jesus.

We also offer a Middle School Crew for parents. They meet at the same time Wake Middle School meets on Wednesday nights at 7p,

how can i serve with wake?

We love that you want to take the risk with us here at Quay Church and become a steward. We call you stewards because we believe that in this house and as a family, we are all called to steward what God has given us – not just in what we bring through our tithe, but also how we give through our time. You can begin the application process by filling out our steward interest form and selecting ‘Students (Wake)’.

what is passion camp?

Wake Students attend Passion Camp, an annual conference for middle and high school students. Passion Camp takes place in Daytona Beach for five days and is an incredible opportunity for our students to grow closer to Jesus, as well as one another, while being led in the best worship and teaching there is to offer them. You can learn more about Passion Camp here

what security measures are in place for student gatherings?

The security and well-being of our students is a top priority for our Wake leadership team. We have an excellent security team that serves at each gathering to ensure the safety of our students, as well as a check-in system, and a stationed Orange County Sheriff at each gathering.
