King of Hearts— an intro into the collection:
David—a youngest son, a shepherd, the son of Jesse, the second King of Israel and co-author of the Psalms—is one of the most famous figures in Scripture. He is known not only for his major successes, but also his tragic failings. David's name means "beloved," and he is described in 2 Samuel 23:1 as "a man after God's own heart."
In this collection, we'll follow David from his time as a youngest son shepherding sheep, to a King called by God to shepherd His chosen people. We'll explore how David's life and lineage was ultimately not defined by his great achievements or terrible mistakes, but by his relentless pursuit of deep repentance, radical worship, and trust in God and his mercy. "King of Hearts," will show us how we too can be a people that chase after God's own heart while navigating our own triumphs and messes in this life.
