DESCRIPTION:At Quay Church\, we believe bringing is our joy and stewardship is our responsibility. On  March 14\, we have the opportunity to live that out together through a Bed Building Day with Sleep in Heavenly Peace. \nSleep in Heavenly Peace exists to make sure no child sleeps on the floor. Alongside their team\, Quay Stewards will come together to build beds that provide comfort\, dignity\, and a safe place for children in our community to rest. This is a hands-on way to love our neighbors and make room for hope in a very practical way. \nNo construction experience is required. Sleep in Heavenly Peace leaders will guide the process\, provide all tools and materials\, and help us work together as a team to turn lumber into beds that will change a child’s everyday life. \nWhat to Expect \n\nA meaningful\, hands-on serving experience for Quay Stewards ages 12 and up\, with adult supervision\nAll tools\, materials\, and guidance provided\nTeam-based serving that reflects our value of sled dogs over show dogs\nA tangible opportunity to bring comfort and care to families in our community\n\nWhat to Bring \n\nClosed-toed shoes and comfortable clothes that can get dusty\nA water bottle and sun protection\n\n  \nregister here\n  \n

DESCRIPTION:What Will I Be Doing?\nVolunteers help prepare donated food items so they are safe\, organized\, and ready for distribution to our partner agencies. \nthis event takes place at Second Harvest Food Bank \nDaily Responsibilities\n\nInspect donations for damage\nCheck product quality\nVerify expiration dates\nRepack donations as needed\n\nOccasional Tasks\nAs needed\, no set schedule. \n\nBag produce and frozen packaged meats\nAssemble Kids Snack Packs\nRestock coolers in the Agency Mart area\nAssemble disaster relief boxes\n\nImportant Note: \nOur partner agencies rely on this work. All products must be properly sorted before they can be distributed. Your role is critical in helping families and communities receive safe\, quality food. \nAbout Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida\nSecond Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is a private\, nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting hunger in our community. The food bank collects\, stores\, and distributes food through a network of more than 870 feeding partners across seven counties: Brevard\, Lake\, Marion\, Orange\, Osceola\, Seminole\, and Volusia. \nThese partners include food pantries\, soup kitchens\, shelters\, senior centers\, schools\, healthcare sites\, and more. Through mobile food distributions\, home deliveries\, and nutrition programs\, Second Harvest extends its reach even further\, helping ensure that nutritious food gets to neighbors where and when it is needed most. \nYour volunteer service plays a vital role in supporting this network and helping provide food with dignity to families across Central Florida. \nPreparation Videos\n  \nPlease watch the following videos before your volunteer shift. \nPackaged Frozen Meat Sorting Video \n \nNote: The volunteer area is not inside a cooler or freezer. \nDry Sorting Video \n \nVolunteer Requirements\n\nVolunteers must be at least 10 years old.\nAges 10 to 15 must be accompanied by an adult\, age 18 or older\, who is also volunteering\, registered\, and scheduled for the same shift.\nAbility to stand for extended periods of time.\nClosed toe and closed heel shoes are required\, along with appropriate clothing.\nNo spaghetti straps\, crop tops\, short shorts\, or see through clothing.\nPlease arrive on time for your scheduled shift.\n\nThank you for serving and helping make a meaningful impact in our community.
